Lookit! I changed the name and design of my blog! I’m excited!
Over the last few months as I have been selling and moving, I was thinking about all the things I could write about when it came time. And with what I have already to write and with how I tend to travel, a name like Roadtrips and Rollercoasters seems perfectly appropriate for my travel style. I love the total freedom of car travel, and I absolutely love rollercoasters as anyone who knows me can attest.
I do wonder what this will mean for international travel, but I’ve read this book which gives me some wonderful ideas. I can’t wait to see where this road will lead me.
Ch-ch-ch-changes
I did have some trepidation about going in a slightly different direction, but changing a WordPress theme is simple, and with help, I was able to change the blog address and name comparatively easily. And who am I kidding, I had barely started. I even took a poll in a travel blogging Facebook group to assure myself I was making the right decision. I did rather love my boat imagery…
The changes I made include:
- choosing and changing the WordPress theme–this one is Tracks, which I think is wonderfully appropriate
- purchasing the new domain, which I had done a while ago, when I first had the idea, as well as rollercoastersandroadtrips.com, just in case folks can’t remember the order of things
- redirecting sarasailsaway.com and rollercoastersandroadtrips.com to end up at roadtripsandrollercoasters.com
- renaming my social accounts as much as possible (looking at you, Twitter–meet @RTandRC) and updating profile and banner pics
- making roadtripsandrollercoasters.com primary on my Bluehost account (affiliate link)
- connecting my roadtripsandrollercoasters (that is a super long name to type out!) to my existing blog
- finding a wee little icon to appear in the internet tab (see how cute!)
- wasting about three whole days trying to change the font of the title to make it more dynamic. I gave up so I could get on with things. Too much trouble!
- updating my about and contact pages, going through all my options and documentation to utilize the theme as much as possible
- updating all the tiny things in the background like backup systems and SSL certificates, all with lots of help from people on chat and in person.
I’m really excited about the way it turned out, so take a look around and tell me what you think!
Sounds good 😉
hahaha…three days on the font…I’m right there with ya!
