There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from in Flagler Beach, even as small as it is. But I think the restaurants below are the best ones.
Flager Beachfront Winery
I loved the Flagler Beachfront Winery so much I stopped by THREE TIMES during my short visit. Even so, I can’t recommend it so much for the food. The cheese, meats, and dipping oil are top-quality, but it’s not much food for your money. And definitely skip dessert, it’s not worth it. Get a wine slushy instead.
After dinner, my additional visits to the winery were to sample 6 of their 12 or so wines, then later to buy a bottle of the one I liked best (the Tortuga.) If you’re lucky, winemaker Ken Tarsitano will be on hand to tell you about his wines (with plenty of dad jokes thrown in.)
meat & cheese plate do NOT order this!
I think the best visit to the Flagler Beachfront Winery should be in the afternoon for a tasting and a shared snack over your chosen glass of wine with a bottle of same (or more) to go. Seating is indoors or on an outside patio facing the ocean.
Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill
Probably the best sit-down restaurant for food in Flagler is the Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill. I ate a St. Patrick’s Day brunch at the bar with delicious corned-beef hash eggs benedict and a green “mimosa” with melon and apple liquors mixed with champagne. (Though w
During a second visit for breakfast, I had a great table at the bowed window to view the ocean over my yummy waffle. They also have a popular flaming cheese appetizer dish which sounds like a fun time.
The Oceanside Grill has an upstairs bar and lots of upper-deck seating for fantastic ocean views. It was too rainy and windy during my visit, but in the evening, the upper deck would be ideal.
Funky Pelican
But the absolute best for views is the Funky Pelican at the Flagler Pier. As a solo diner, I can almost always eat at the bar with no wait but the bar rarely faces any view. I was lucky enough at the Funky Pelican to sit at a hightop table facing the windows for a great surrounding view of the ocean past the other diners. If the weather is good, they also have outside deck seating.
I had the best seafood of my trip here, a Caribbean-inspired shrimp and grouper plate. And while the inside service, food, and atmosphere were excellent, I had to first make my way past an exceptionally rude hostess.
Sally’s Ice Cream
After dinner at the Funky Pelican, I walked down the boardwalk a little to Sally’s Ice Cream for some super tasty dessert. They have amazing and inventive flavors and were open in March when many other seasonal spots were not. And even if other places were open, I’m betting this one is the best.
Service is at an exterior window and there are a few picnic tables around. And like most business in Flagler, the ocean is just across the street.
Note–European Village
At brunch in Oceanside, the bartender mentioned there would be a St. Patrick’s Day bagpiper (which doesn’t make too much sense, but I’ll roll with it) at the “European Village.” I looked it up later, and the European Village is about 15 minutes north of Flagler in Palm Coast. I didn’t visit on this trip, but it looks worth checking out. It’s a collection of shops, restaurants, and businesses with an event space in the middle for concerts, including, apparently, St. Patrick’s Day bagpipers. We have a complex similar to this one in Collegedale, TN.
And The Rest
There are a few more highly-rated sandwich shops and diners around Flagler Beach, most notably Beach Belly Bob’s Sandwich Shop and a place called Friend’s Cafe. But for a really good full-service meal (what you’d call in Disney lingo “table service”) I’d definitely recommend the options above.
If you find a place in Flagler Beach that you love that’s not on this list, let me know! I’d love to hear about it!
